Overview

The University of Manitoba, founded in 1877, is the oldest university in Western Canada and the largest and only research-intensive post-secondary institution in Manitoba. It is a member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities and attracts the most research funding in the province. The university has over 31,900 students from more than 120 countries, creating a culturally diverse community. Its campuses are located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on the original lands of several Indigenous peoples and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. UM offers more than 250 undergraduate and graduate programs and is the only institution in Manitoba that educates lawyers, engineers, architects, actuaries, and the majority of healthcare professionals.
