Overview

China Jiliang University is a public multidisciplinary university in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, with a distinctive academic focus on metrology, standards, quality, market regulation, inspection and quarantine. It began as Hangzhou Metrology School in 1978, became China Institute of Metrology in 1985 and adopted its present name in 2016. Since 2019, it has been jointly supported by Zhejiang’s provincial government and the State Administration for Market Regulation. Its teaching and research connect measurement and instrumentation with optical engineering, information technology, engineering, business and the humanities. Specialist laboratories, research platforms and international standardization partnerships support both academic study and work with industry.

The School of International Education coordinates international admissions and student support. The university’s 2026 international prospectuses name seventeen undergraduate subjects and nine Master’s subjects, with distinct Chinese- and English-taught options for most subjects and Chinese-only routes in Chinese-language education. Applicants submit qualifications, transcripts, language evidence and other supporting materials through the university’s application system. International students can apply for the published freshman tuition awards, while eligible Master’s applicants may seek a Presidential Scholarship with tuition, accommodation, insurance and stipend support. The university also runs a Chinese Language and Culture Summer Camp that combines classroom study, lectures and cultural activities in Hangzhou; its short-course package and application conditions are separate from degree admissions.
