Overview

East China University of Political Science and Law is a public university in Shanghai established in 1952 as one of the first specialist institutions of political science and law in the People’s Republic of China. Its academic structure combines law with political science, public administration, economics, languages, journalism and other disciplines. The university operates Songjiang, Changning and Putuo campuses and supports legal and public administration research through postgraduate education, research institutes and postdoctoral stations. Its international education draws on this disciplinary concentration and on academic partnerships with institutions abroad.

The international admissions catalogs offer four-year undergraduate programs, Chinese-taught postgraduate study and designated English-taught law and public administration routes. The university also publishes a Mandarin training program with two eighteen-week semesters, small-group instruction and language preparation for further study. International degree admission requires the appropriate prior qualification, language evidence and document assessment; undergraduate applicants must also submit CSCA results. Chinese Government and Shanghai Government scholarships are competitive, and the specialist YES China programs have additional professional eligibility conditions. Applicants receive their admission decision from the university and present original qualifications at enrollment.
