Hainan University

Hainan University is a comprehensive university jointly developed by China’s Ministry of Education and Hainan Province and included in the national Double First-Class initiative. It was formed in 2007 through the merger of the former Hainan University and South China University of Tropical Agriculture. Its disciplines span agriculture, engineering, science, economics, management, law, humanities and the arts, with crop science a designated world-class discipline and a strong emphasis on tropical agriculture, marine resources and the island economy.

The university operates Haidian, Danzhou, Mission Hills and Yazhou campuses, serving different academic schools and research environments. Its School of International Education coordinates an established Bachelor–Master–doctoral international education system and Chinese-language training. International programmes include Chinese- and English-taught degrees, programmes at the HNU–ASU International College, and language courses arranged across six proficiency bands. Academic study is supported by libraries, international student accommodation, sporting facilities and a residential-college system.
