Hengyang Normal University

Hengyang Normal University traces its origins to the Hunan Southern Public Normal School established in 1904. It was formed in its current institutional structure in 1999 and became authorized to award master’s degrees in 2018. The university is located in Hengyang, a historic city in Hunan, and combines teacher education with liberal arts, science, engineering, business and the arts.

Its 2026 guide for international students names 31 four-year bachelor’s majors taught in Chinese, including preschool education, Chinese language, sciences, media, information engineering, economics and visual and performing arts. Applicants need HSK Level 4 with at least 180 points for direct degree entry; the university offers pre-sessional Chinese study for those below that threshold. The guide also publishes university merit-scholarship and language-achievement routes, with award decisions subject to the annual review.
