Hunan Institute of Engineering

Hunan Institute of Engineering was established in 2000 by combining a mechanical and electrical engineering college founded in 1951 with a textile college founded in 1978. Located in Xiangtan, it has two campuses and an applied teaching mission that connects engineering and design with regional industry. Its academic units include electrical, mechanical, textile, chemical, information, business and art disciplines.

The 2026 international admissions guide publishes 48 Chinese-taught bachelor’s majors. Most take four years; Architecture takes five. The official catalog ranges from electrical automation and new-energy engineering to fashion design, finance, media art and intelligent construction. International applicants need HSK Level 4, and the institute provides a first-year tuition scholarship for all admitted degree students plus competitive support for strong students in later years.
