Hunan University

Hunan University is a national university in Changsha administered by China’s Ministry of Education and included in the Double First-Class initiative, Project 211 and Project 985. Its history is linked to Yuelu Academy, founded in 976, and the institution adopted the Hunan University name in 1926. The university now spans a broad academic range, with chemistry, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering designated world-class disciplines.

International students can apply to Chinese-taught programmes across the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, selected English-taught degrees and Chinese-language courses. Its international programme tables specify teaching languages and study lengths at the level of individual named subjects, while postgraduate study combines specialist training with research. The university maintains partnerships with more than 200 overseas institutions, and its international student centre coordinates applications, admission documentation, accommodation information and support for self-funded and scholarship routes.
