Overview

Jimei University is a comprehensive public university in Xiamen whose roots reach the schools founded by overseas Chinese educator Tan Kah Kee in 1918 and 1920. It combines marine and maritime specialties with teacher education, economics, management, engineering, humanities and the arts. Navigation, fisheries and ocean food science remain important parts of its identity, supported by teaching facilities and maritime practice opportunities.

The university’s 2026 international prospectus publishes 62 bachelor’s majors, 52 master’s research routes and 18 doctoral research routes. The graduate tables span transportation, naval architecture, food science, fisheries, engineering, economics, design and Chinese literature. Degree teaching is primarily in Chinese; most doctoral areas permit English study, apart from Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. The university lists Fujian government and university scholarships with level-specific award amounts.
