Overview
Jishou University is a public comprehensive university founded in 1958, with campuses in Jishou and Zhangjiajie in Hunan. It is jointly supported by the Hunan provincial government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and its academic work spans sciences, engineering, medicine, humanities, management and the arts. Its location in the Wuling Mountain region supports research on ethnic culture, tourism, regional development and local biological resources, alongside postgraduate and undergraduate education.
The university’s 2026 international admissions call specifically recruits language students from Belt and Road partner countries. It combines Chinese-language study with access to the university’s learning environment and cultural venues, including the Huang Yongyu Art Museum and the Shen Congwen Memorial Hall. Applicants are assessed through their qualifications, transcripts, health and conduct records; previous Chinese study is preferred but no HSK admission minimum is prescribed. The call publishes tuition and accommodation charges and describes full or partial language scholarships, with a separate reward for students who attain HSK 4 during their studies.
