Overview
Founded in 1912, Nanjing University of the Arts is one of China’s longest-standing independent higher art institutions. It is jointly supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Jiangsu Province. Its schools span fine arts, calligraphy, music, design, dance, theatre, film and media, bringing studio practice together with historical and theoretical study.
The university’s 2026 international admissions materials publish a broad bachelor’s catalog and separate practice-based and theory-based master’s catalogs. Applicants can pursue traditional art forms alongside digital media, intelligent interaction, music technology and cultural-industry subjects. Portfolio, performance or academic-writing requirements vary by route; most programs are taught in Chinese, with published English options in arts management and selected master’s directions.
