Overview

Sichuan Conservatory of Music is a specialist public arts institution whose origins date to the Sichuan Provincial Experimental School of Drama and Music founded in 1939. Its education spans performance, composition, musicology, music education, dance, theater, media, fine arts and design. Teaching is organized across specialist academic departments and campuses in Chengdu, with fine-art programs also based at the Linkong campus in Ziyang. The conservatory combines studio and ensemble training with artistic scholarship, creative practice and research into musical and cultural traditions.

The conservatory admits foreign students through dedicated international bachelor’s and master’s procedures. Applicants submit qualification and language evidence alongside the materials required for their artistic discipline, then complete specialist assessment and an interview. International graduate applicants follow the conservatory’s specialist assessment requirements rather than the domestic political-theory and foreign-language listening examinations. Degree subjects and research directions are drawn from the catalogs expressly referenced by the international guides. International students may seek competitive Sichuan provincial and Chengdu municipal awards under their respective rules, while tuition, insurance and accommodation arrangements remain separate from award selection.
