Sichuan Normal University

Sichuan Normal University is a public university in Chengdu with a long history in teacher education and the humanities. It was the first institution in Sichuan to provide undergraduate normal education and has developed extensive academic and educational partnerships overseas. Its School of International Chinese Language Education combines Chinese-language teaching, teacher preparation and intercultural education. The school has trained international students across language and degree programs for more than three decades and supports international Chinese teaching through overseas partner institutions and Confucius Institutes.

International students can pursue Chinese-language courses, HSK preparation and degree study in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages. Language classes use placement assessment and small-group teaching, with instruction designed to develop listening, speaking, reading, writing and familiarity with Chinese culture. Degree education combines a grounding in Chinese language and culture with teaching methods and intercultural communication. Students can use university libraries, learning facilities and international-student accommodation, and participate in cultural activities in Chengdu. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarships have their own academic, age, language, recommendation and annual-review conditions, which are separate from ordinary self-funded degree admission.
