Overview

Founded in 1958 in Aral, Tarim University is jointly supported by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and China’s Ministry of Education. It has developed from its agricultural origins into a comprehensive university whose strengths include crop and life sciences, engineering and the study of arid-region resources. The institution reports 21 colleges, more than 34,000 students and undergraduate through doctoral authorization across multiple disciplines.

Its 2026 international admissions guide publishes an English-taught graduate intake rather than a general list of all domestic majors. The master’s catalog covers agriculture, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, food, engineering, information systems, management, textiles and translation; the doctoral catalog identifies biology, several agricultural-engineering directions and crop science. All 21 distinct graduate routes in the guide are represented here, and eligible applicants can compete for the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps scholarship.
