The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is a mainland–Hong Kong cooperative university in Nansha, Guangzhou, established in 2022. Its academic model replaces conventional departments with four interdisciplinary Hubs—Function, Information, Systems and Society—and smaller Thrust Areas organized around emerging research questions. This structure encourages students and researchers to connect science, engineering, technology and social inquiry when tackling complex problems. English is the primary language of instruction.

The postgraduate pathways in this profile lead to Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Research directions across the university include artificial intelligence, data science, the Internet of Things, advanced materials, microelectronics, earth and ocean sciences, sustainable energy and policy. Students work within a Thrust Area while drawing on courses and collaboration across the Hubs; the Fok Ying Tung Graduate School manages graduate admission and research training in Guangzhou.
