Sometimes a university option contains enough detail that you want to talk it through. An Advisor call can help you organize questions about study goals, current university information and your next application step. It is an optional AI voice feature available to eligible Student Pro users in supported regions.
Academic and Connect remain the two modes in IMS Hub. You can research study options and make student introductions without using a call. Decide whether a conversation will help with a specific question before spending time on it.
Start from a question you can explain
In Academic, open the option or profile section relevant to your uncertainty. Read what is already available and identify the sticking point. “Which published requirement should I confirm before pursuing this option?” is more useful than asking for a guaranteed best university.
When considering several options, choose the difference you want to understand: teaching language, intake, a missing published cost or a condition attached to the match. Your saved profile and current university facts can guide the call, so keeping the Academic profile accurate improves the context.
Prepare a short opening sentence and the outcome you want. You might want a clearer list of questions for admissions or help deciding which profile detail to update. Neither requires asking Advisor to make the institution's decision for you.
Check access and the sharing choice
Where available, Academic offers Call Advisor. The call entry checks regional eligibility and membership separately. A Pro purchase alone does not establish availability, and choosing a study destination or changing the app language does not determine your eligible region.
The screen can direct you to complete personal details, refresh access, manage membership or restore an existing native purchase. Follow the message you receive. If calls are unavailable in the current region, return to Universities and continue the Academic work that your plan supports.
Before an eligible first call, review the AI data-sharing disclosure. It explains sharing with OpenAI of requests, relevant Academic information and current screen context, plus voice audio and transcripts when a call starts. Allow and continue is a choice; Not now returns without starting. Permission can also be withdrawn in Settings.
Keep the conversation focused
Once the entry checks are satisfied, Start voice call begins the conversation. Explain your question and ask for the distinction that matters: which facts are published, which come from your profile and which still need confirmation.
You can interrupt, mute or end the call. If an answer is unclear, ask about the particular requirement or assumption rather than continuing with a broad discussion. AI can make mistakes, so an answer that affects eligibility, a deadline or a payment still needs verification against the relevant source.
The current Pro allowance is 60 connected call minutes per billing month where eligible. Connected time includes listening, speaking and pauses; attempts before the call connects do not consume call time. End the call when you finish rather than leaving it connected while you do something else.
Return to the two-mode workflow
After the call, act on one useful outcome. Reopen a university detail, update an incorrect profile fact or write a precise question for the institution. Academic browsing, matching and saving do not use call minutes.
Advisor usage lets eligible Pro users review their allowance. Minutes reset each billing month, with no rollover or automatic overage charges. If you mainly need the full Academic and expanded Connect functions, Core provides those without the call benefit.
For personal student experience, continue through Connect with a mutually agreed introduction. For paid human application help, inspect the separate Human Admissions Assistance service in Settings. Current general app information is on the IMS Hub mobile page.
