Choosing a study option involves two kinds of questions. “Which published language requirement applies to this program?” calls for current institutional information. “What helped you settle into a new study routine?” benefits from someone else's experience. Academic and Connect give you different ways to explore those questions in IMS Hub.
Using both well means knowing what each answer can establish. A useful conversation can reveal a question you had not considered. It cannot, by itself, confirm that a university will accept your qualification or offer you a place.
Begin with the option you are actually considering
Use Academic to establish the program, level, teaching language and intake relevant to you. With Core or Pro, open the university details and read the available requirements, dates and costs. Save a choice when it deserves another review.
Then write two or three questions in your own notes. Keep each one connected to a real decision: whether you understand the language requirement, whether you need more information about costs, or what a typical study week might feel like. This makes the next conversation purposeful.
Read the match explanation as well. Its percentage describes fit with your profile and available published requirements. Provisional information and missing evidence deserve attention. Even a strong match remains a research aid; the admissions decision belongs to the university.
Look for a relevant conversation in Connect
Switch through Settings → Preferences → IMS mode when you want to use Connect. A clear bio helps other people understand your interests. You might describe your study subject, the stage you are at and the kind of experience you hope to exchange.
Nearby discovery can surface students around you. An optional university-community route depends on approved affiliation and opting in; it can include members across locations. Choosing a university as a future study preference in Academic does not grant access to that university's community.
You may not find someone from the exact program or intake you are researching. Work with the relevance actually available rather than assuming Connect is a directory of every university. Shared interests or a similar transition can still support a useful conversation.
Share contacts by choice, then ask for experience
When requesting an introduction, choose the contact methods you are comfortable sharing. The other person can accept or ignore the request and chooses their own methods on acceptance. Supported options include WhatsApp, WeChat, Instagram and Telegram; the conversation continues in the external service.
Begin with a question that invites a personal answer: “Which part of your weekly study routine took the most adjustment?” or “What would you check earlier if you were starting again?” Ask when and where the experience occurred, because context changes its usefulness.
Keep individual experiences in their proper scope. A student who was accepted with a particular certificate is describing their case. Their answer may help you formulate a question for admissions, but it does not prove that the same evidence will satisfy your current program.
Bring the answer back to your research
After the conversation, reopen the relevant Academic option. Did the discussion identify a published detail you should check, or a practical preference you should reconsider? If it changed your goals, update the Academic profile and review current results.
For anything that affects eligibility, deadlines or required evidence, follow the university's current source or contact its admissions office. Keep personal tips in your notes with their context. This small distinction lets you learn from people without asking them to speak for an institution.
